Spencer, IA (KICD) — The Spencer city council has entered into an agreement with Hinson Consulting of Mason City to help find a new City Manager when Dan Gifford retires this fall.

Despite the city now having a Human Resources Director, Gifford said he knows of candidates who will only apply through a third party.  Councilman Loren Reit was the first to voice support for the proposal.

The contract passed unanimously Monday with a fee not to exceed 15,650 dollars. The city believes it will come in below that with in-house H.R. Director Jessica Wright doing some of the duties listed on the ala carte menu of services.

It’s the same consultant the city used last year to find a new finance director.
