Newell, IA (KICD)– The City of Newell has come out with some concept drawings for what could become the community’s new pool.

City Clerk Sierra Olsen tells KICD News research into building a new facility began after it was decided the now former pool could no longer be used simply because of age and safety concerns.

The proposal that was made public earlier would be built in the same location of the existing pool but would be smaller and feature all new construction including features requested by the public through a survey conducted earlier this year.

Current estimates show a new pool in Newell would cost around 3.8 million dollars, but Olsen and the rest of the pool committee are being open with the community in saying costs will likely only increase in years to come.
