Sheldon, IA (KICD)– It has been the better part of three decades of waiting, but final preparations are now underway for the City of Sheldon to connect to the Lewis and Clark Water System.
Public Works Director Todd Uhl tells KICD News some changes have had to be made to the existing water system in preparation for this new connection.
Uhl says the water quality can be measured in a number of different way, but in this the case the primary figure is hardness.
In order to add in Lewis and Clark Water, Uhl notes the City of Sheldon does have to make a switch when it comes to disinfecting water.
While many will not even notice that this process is being changed, there are a couple of groups that may have to check some of the equipment used for regular operation.
The final connection to Sheldon is expected sometime in November. The entire project is largely funded at the federal level with local and state entities picking up the remaining twenty percent of the cost.
