Spencer, IA (KICD)– The City of Spencer and Clay County are beginning to look at ways in which the two entities can work together to help expand the local economic footprint.

Supervisor Courtney DeLoss noted during a recent combined meeting of city and county officials, that one of her main priorities in such a combined effort would be retaining youth in the local population.

Supervisor Allen Batschelet added that by working together on economic growth, the two groups can work to help benefit not only Spencer, but all other areas of Clay County.

The conversation comes as multiple elected officials share concerns on population numbers hitting more of a plateau in recent years instead seeing significant growth like some other surrounding communities.
