Spencer, IA (KICD)– The City of Spencer is continuing to work its way through the process of completing its budget for Fiscal Year 2024.

Finance Director Brian Weuve has been working out the numbers for several months only to have to make some adjustments to correct a calculation error made at the state level.

Another big piece that has to be taken into account this time around is the effect of inflation on day-to-day activities.

Weuve further broke down how each part of every dollar taken in through taxes by the city is allocated.

A public hearing on the maximum property tax levy will be on the agenda for the next regular City Council meeting next week with the full budget undergoing a hearing later in the month.
