Storm Lake, IA (KICD)– The City of Storm Lake is implementing a new level of conservation measures when it comes to water usage.
City Manager Keri Navratil says the reason the community is going to mandatory water conservation is to help take some added stress on the city water system.
Navratil says the measured enacted during a work session with the City Council Monday evening are not much different than the voluntary measures that had been previously in place other than citations can now be issued.
The mandatory conservation is a temporary move that will be in place for up to two weeks, but city officials note a regress could be made sooner if the wells in question come back online and the system is able to handle additional water usage again.
