Spencer, IA (KICD)– There will be some special days at the Clay County Fair this year. The first Saturday is sponsored by Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative with children able to get an up-close look at equipment, and the first Sunday is Wild Rose Casino Day.
The most popular day each year is Veteran’s Appreciation Day on Monday where all current and former service members are admitted free, invited to be in the 10 o’clock parade, and to participate in the 11 o’clock program in the ballroom.
Tuesday is Senior Day, and last year’s first FFA Day proved so popular it will return for the 2023 fair.
Wednesday is Disability Awareness Day with carnival rides, lunch, and special displays for those who are pre-registered.
Commodity groups will have displays in Central Park late in the week: Thursday is Iowa Corn Day and Friday is Iowa Dairy Day.
And “Science Saturday” returns for the final weekend with Iowa Lakes Community College and ISU Extension Clay County providing hands-on STEM activities and experiments throughout the fairgrounds.
