Spencer, IA (KICD)– The 2023 Clay County Fair will officially go into the books as being a success based on multiple figures released on Wednesday.
In total more than 318 thousand people passed through the gates of the Clay County Fairgrounds during this year’s nine day run which is down about two percent from a year ago, but there were also some record figures noted.
When all of the money was added up, more than 3.1 million dollars was spent by fairgoers on food, beverage, specialty concessions and carnival rides which breaks the record set last year by 77 thousand dollars.
A record 930 4-H and FFA exhibitors from 48 counties in Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska participated in livestock and human sciences events up from 750 in 2022.
Grandstand shows attracted more than 16 thousand fairgoers with the top two attended events being Jo Dee Messina and Diamond Rio as part of the SRG Concert Series on Thursday and the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull on the final day of the fair.
