Iowa (Radio Iowa)– Thousands of Iowans will be taking short walks as we go into the Fall to remember those having suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

Lauren Livingston is a spokesperson for the Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. She says walks are planned in 19 communities across the state including the annual walk in Spencer.

There are estimated 66-thousand Iowans living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia and another 98-thusand caregivers in the state. Livingston says the walks are a time for all parties to come together for support, awareness and fundraising.

The Iowa Lakes Walk to End Alzheimer’s is scheduled for September 23rd at East Leach Park in Spencer. More information can be found at alz.org/iowawalks.
