Algona, IA (KICD)– A large group of community members and law enforcement officials gathered in the Algona High School gymnasium Wednesday morning to remember Police Officer Kevin Cram, who was killed in the line of duty last week.
Among those sharing stories about their fallen brother was former Algona Police Chief Kendal Pal, who answered the question- Who was Kevin Cram?
Current Police Chief Bo Miller told the crowd gathered in person and more than 17 hundred others watching virtually that he will remember Officer Cram for his giving nature.
Chief Miller added he could count on the reliability of Officer Cram while on the job.
Chief Miller admits that while the tragic events of September 13th will not deter him from putting that uniform back on and continuing to serve his community, the last week may have been some of the worst moments in his professional life.
Pals took some time to thank his friend and former colleague while also asking for guidance on how to best move forward.
Chief Miller concluded his remarks by saying he had been struggling for day on what to say to Officer Cram’s family, finally settling on a thank you.
Rounding out the nearly two hour funeral service that started with a half hour of officers processing into the gym and saluting the American flag draped casket was the traditional final radio call signifying the end of watch for an emergency responder.
