Des Moines, IA (KICD) — The statewide unemployment rate for Iowa in April was 2.7 percent, down from 2.8 percent in March.
The latest county breakdown is for March where Osceola and Pocahontas counties continue to have the lowest level of joblessness. Osceola was at 1.8 percent, unchanged from the prior month and up point 2 percent from March of 2022. Pokey stands at 2.3 percent, also unchanged month over month and up point three percent year over year.
Emmet County is highest at 4 percent, up half a percent from February and point nine percent from last year; and Dickinson County is right behind at 3.9 percent unemployment up point one percent for the month and point 6 percent for the year.
Clay County is the other county above 3 percent coming in with a measurement of 3.4 percent in March, unchanged for the month and down point 7 percent from year ago readings.
Palo Alto County was at 2.8 percent, down point two percent for the month and up point one percent from last year; Cherokee was 2.7 percent down point 2 percent for the month and up point two percent for the year; and O’Brien county was at 2.6 percent, unchanged for the month and down point 6 percent for year.
Unemployment in Buena Vista County for March was 2.1 percent, down point 2 percent from February and up point 1 percent from March 2022.
