Spencer, IA (KICD) — The Spencer Community School district operates five attendance centers, three escaped damage in the flood, but Superintendent Terry Hemann says Johnson and Lincoln Elementary sustained damage.

Hemann does not believe Lincoln will be ready for school on August 23rd.

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade sections will likely be moved to other locations to start the school year.
Johnson Elementary, in the Northwest quadrant of town, also had a flooded basement and HVAC controls were under water, but Hemann is hopeful that school can be repaired in time.

Hemann hopes to have a plan in place by Tuesday noon.
