Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — Water levels in the Iowa Great Lakes appear to be normal or just slightly above normal this week. Iowa DNR Hydrology Resources Coordinator Tim Hall says expect those numbers to fluctuate.
Hall tells KICD News lake levels are directly impacted by the soil moisture level in the water shed.
Hall says the melt after some heavy snows undoubtedly helped replenish the lakes, but after two years of drought they actually started to return to more normal levels last summer.
