Spencer, IA (KICD)– There are some ongoing concerns when it comes to continued drought following a very dry April in many parts of Iowa.

State Climatologist Justin Glisan says April is considered to be one of the wettest months of the year, but there were many areas, including Spencer, that struggled to get even half of the expected moisture.

Then the windy factor gets added in which has a tendency to take away any moisture we manage to collect.

Glisan says there appears to be some mixed signals on the outlooks as far as what could be a glimmer of hope for some much needed rainfall as we attempt to transition into more of an El Nino pattern.

Overall temperatures in April were a big roller coaster with a record daytime high paired with some cold overnight lows which essentially balanced out the world and brought temperatures very close to normal.
