Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The Spencer Softball team hosted Estherville Lincoln Central Monday night in Spencer.

It was all ELC from the get-go. Cara Schiltz and Rylie Yager each scored in the top of the 1st, with Schiltz getting knocked in by Haley Stokes on a sacrifice, and Yager scoring after a throwing error on that same sacrifice.

After a 3-strikeout, 4-batter, bottom of the inning by Rylee Yager in the circle, Estherville Lincoln Central would score another run on the solo shot from Arianna Beekman.

The Tigers went down in order for the bottom of the second and Estherville Lincoln Central scored 7 runs in the top of the 3rd, highlighted by a leadoff homerun in the inning by Jasey Anderson.

Spencer would go hitless in the bottom of the 3rd, and ELC pushed across two more in the top of the 4th, including Cara Schiltz 3rd run of the night. In the bottom of the 4th, Yager shut down the Tigers again, ending the game by mercy rule in a 13-0 score.

Rylee Yager picked up the win for Estherville Lincoln Central, throwing 4 innings, allowing 0 Hits, 0 Runs, 0 Walks, and struck out 6 while the only baserunner reached via a fielding error.

Jersey Vail takes the loss in a tough defensive night for Spencer. Vail threw 2.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, 11 runs, but only 8 earned with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Cara Schiltz was one of the big offensive producers on the night, getting 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 RBI and a couple stolen bases on 4 at-bats. Her teammate Jasey Anderson had 2 hits, a home run, double, 4RBI and a stolen base in 3 at-bats.

Spencer falls to 1-7 on the year and 0-2 in the Lakes Conference. The Tigers will travel to Cherokee on Wednesday in search of their first league win. Estherville Lincoln Central improves to 11-2 on the year and are now 3-0 in the Lakes Conference. ELC will begin a tough non-conference road stretch on Tuesday when they travel to Newell-Fonda.
