The City of Estherville got together last week to identify some of its goals for the upcoming budget cycle.

Officials started by looking at some of the recent accomplishments in Estherville including the new Aquatic Center along with road improvement and a newly completed industrial park.

There was also some focus on concerns revolving around the loss of the community’s movie theatre and vacant buildings in Downtown before the team then dove into discussion on what some of the top priorities should be moving forward.

City Administrator Penny Clayton further detailed what the city is looking at as far as upgrading trash pickup.

When it comes to improving the overall look of the community, Clayton says it comes down to the volunteers stepping up.

Many communities hold similar sessions at least every couple of years to get everyone on the same page when it comes to priorities as part of a multiple year plan that is ultimately governed by the budget process for each fiscal year.
