Estherville, IA (KICD)– One person has died as a result of a house fire Saturday morning in Estherville.

The original discovery was made by a resident investigating a smell of smoke when when he found it was coming from 219 South 8th Street shortly after seven o’clock.

Emergency crews later arriving on scene say they encountered heavy, low-level smoke at the entry which led to a team venting a roof and other making initial entry.

Due to the thickness of the smoke, it took firefighters around thirty minutes to locate the victim who has only been identified as a 61-year-old man.

The fire remains under investigation with no possible cause being released.
