Le Mars, IA (KICD)– A former Northwest Iowa Police Chief has plead guilty to multiple charges in connection to the use of privileged data for personal use.

Online court records show 55-year-old James Dunn changed his plea to guilty last week on seven counts each of unauthorized dissemination of intelligence history data and unauthorized dissemination of criminal history along with two counts of stalking and three counts of nonfelonious misconduct in office.

The case arose earlier this year following an investigation by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation after Dunn was found to used police systems to stalk a former girlfriend.

Dunn will be sentenced next month and face the possibility of more than thirty years behind bars.
