Spencer, IA (KICD) – Long-time law enforcement officer Larry Stanislov has passed away at the age of 90. Stanislov was a State Trooper from 1959 through 1988, then served three terms as Clay County Sheriff.

His successor – Randy Krukow – first met Stanislov as a rookie on the Spencer Police Department.

Krukow tells KICD News many area officers looked up to Stanislov’s leadership.

And when Stanislov hung up his badge, he was still willing to help out.

One of Krukow’s favorite memories was when Stanislov brought the Barney Fife impersonator – who was at the Clay County Fair – to the Sheriff’s department to entertain the staff.
