Des Moines, IA (KICD)– Four area housing projects are among nearly five dozen across the state to receive funding through the Workforce Housing Tax Credit Program.

Among the communities being assisted is the City of Sheldon which will receive a total tax credit of more than 150 thousand dollars for renovations of three vacant buildings for the Jackrabbit Upper Story Development project that will create five rental units that offer east access to restaurants, shopping and other downtown amenities. The community will receive another one million dollars in tax credits for the the Prairie Trail Village II project.

Also included in the awards announced Friday is Cherokee for the Pioneer Apartments project along with Estherville for the second phase of the Deer Creek Apartments. Both of the those projects are receiving one million dollars in total tax credits.
