Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– A new leader has formally been named to fill a vacancy in the Dickinson County Attorney’s Office.
Assistant County Attorney Steve Goodlow was formally appointed to the top spot Tuesday morning after serving in an interim position for the last several weeks.
The opening came following the resignation of Amy Zenor after she was allegedly found to be intoxicated in the courthouse in November and was charged with public intoxication.
The Board of Supervisors originally had the option to hold a special election to fill the opening, but Supervisor Steve Clark noted it would be a much faster process taking the appointment route.
The public does have the opportunity to file a petition for a special election, but must do so within 14 days of an appointment being announced.
Goodlow does officially take over his new job right away, but due to weather his formal Oath of Office has been postponed to next week.
