Lake Park, IA (KICD) — The Harris Lake Park school district will officially propose a land swap with the city. The board approved making the offer this week. Superintendent Gary Richardson said the school would like city land North of the new elementary school, in exchange for one, two, or three parcels where the soon-to-be abandoned building sits.

The school board would like to take ownership of the concession stand and restroom at the Little League complex as part of the swap.

Last month, Lake Park Mayor Matt Carstenson attended the school board meeting to express the city’s interest in the current elementary playground for a city park. The swap would also include the current bus barn, UNLESS the school district runs out of bond money to construct a new one.
