Okoboji, IA (KICD)– The hours are numbered for the detour of Highway 71 through the Iowa Great Lakes.

Transportation officials announced Tuesday that the roadway between Lakeshore Drive and Sanborn Avenue will open by five o’clock Wednesday evening just in time for some Thanksgiving travel.

The rebuild on Highway 71 began in the Spring and will continue through next construction season with any additional work taking place in the Spring of 2025.
