Spencer, IA (KICD)– Spencer’s Historic Preservation Commission will host a presentation on the history of the community’s cemeteries as part of its May Lecture Series on Tuesday.

Kevin Robinson, the Cemetery Superintendent, tells KICD News the history of Spencer’s burial sites dates back into the 1800s before the land was owned by the city.

Robinson says Riverside Cemetery was not even the first piece of land used for burials in the early days of Spencer.

The presentation on the history of Spencer’s cemeteries will be held in Council Chambers at Spencer City Hall starting at 5:30 with a live stream also available on the City of Spencer Facebook page.
