Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — Dickinson County History comes to life Tuesday night as actors will read letters from some of the earliest settlers. Museum Director Mary Dreier says they just recently learned about the correspondence between Orlando and Maria Howe.

Clyde Ihrke and Marie Matthiesen will read the letters in character Tuesday night at the Pierson Lakes Art Center.

Orlando Howe was the first judge in Dickinson County. The Howes moved back to Newton fearing for their safety here on the frontier.
The presentation is at 7 o’clock. A free will donation will be accepted.
