Milford, IA (KICD) — The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa started neutering feral cats January 1st.
Director Haley Dirks says a large donation got the program started, and public funding and private contributions can keep it going.
Several communities have discussed the issue in recent months.
Dirks says an aggressive trap, neuter, release program in Palo Alto County seems to have greatly reduced the number of feral cats there.
In addition to financial contributions the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa is looking for volunteers to help trap the strays.
