Des Moines, IA (Radio Iowa)– We may be nearing the end of August, but it appears Mother Nature has at least one more swing at some hot tempertures for parts of the Upper Midwest as we go into the weekend.

Despite the last several evening feeling more like Fall with lows in the 50s, Meteorologist Cory Martin with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says daytime highs will be starting to climb once again.

Martin says there is also very little chance of rain in the next week across the region which may not exactly be good news for area crops in the advanced stage of growth.

Forecast models are continuing to indicate the heat will arrive in Northwest Iowa on Saturday with highs well into the 90s and heat index values in the lower triple digits through early next week.
