Orleans, IA (KICD) — Invasive Species are a matter of life now on the Iowa Great Lakes. DNR Fisheries Biologist Mike Hawkins says so far this year there’s no site of Eurasian Milfoil.

Curly Leaf Pond Weed is a perennial problem. Hawkins tells KICD News the goal there is to minimize the plant’s negative effects.

Hawkins says DNR officials are constantly monitoring the lake and asking boaters to clean and inspect boats and trailers before moving them between water bodies.
