Arnolds Park, IA (KICD) — As we reported last week, the northbound lane of highway 71 is now scheduled to be rebuilt before Memorial Day. DOT Engineer Daken Schultz tells KICD News the contractor says since they are required to maintain access for emergency vehicles at all times, it’s easier to build the road in two halves.
Schultz says a construction website is scheduled to go live Tuesday, and businesses, residents, and motorists can sign up for text alerts.
Highway 71 from the care center road in Okoboji to Arnolds Park Amusement Park in phases during the next two will be rebuilt in phases in spring and fall of 2023, spring and fall of 2024, with cleanup in spring of 2025 if necessary.
