Iowa Lakes Community College is receiving a substantial grant through Future Ready Iowa to help with a commercial driver’s license training program.
Dean of Career and Technical Education and Workforce Jeff Soole tells KICD News the 240 thousand dollars is going to be used to purchase some additional equipment for the program.
Soole says the CDL program at ILCC will be able to focus on a number of different pieces to help fulfill a need of as many at ten thousand certified drivers.
Soole says the CDL program will likely have a positive impact on enrollment numbers as well.
The school already has an approved testing route ready to go and is simply waiting for the government to get the program up and running.
