Mason City, IA (KICD) — KICD News was on hand for the world premiere of a new film documentary on composer Meredith Willson in Mason City recently. Why now – nearly 40 years after his death?

Senior Producer Tyler Briniger tells us that Willson’s personal records have also been made public for the first time.

Willson is STILL Mason City’s favorite son because he always went out of his way to mention his hometown on popular radio shows of the day.

Meredith Willson – America’s Music Man will be broadcast on Iowa PBS several times during pledge week in March. The special preview was held at the Music Man Museum in Mason City.
