Alpha, IA (KICD)– A Jackson County man is facing charges after allegedly being involved in an incident over the weekend involving a firearm.
A criminal complaint alleges the defendant , 75-year-old Jake Jones of Alpha, was seen driving slow through a local alley on Saturday morning before quickly leaving when approached to resident.
Video taken by and given to police by the second party reportedly showed Jones in possession of a semi-automatic pistol that a third person told the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was pointed at the second party.
Jones was later found to still be in possession of the weapon when the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office showed up at his home later reportedly admitting pointing the weapon at the victim and quickly putting it down.
Jones was charged with second degree assault with a firearm and intentionally pointing a gun. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
Jackson County Sheriff Shawn Haken tells KICD News Jones made his initial court appearance on Monday and was later released after posting ten thousand dollars bond.
