Des Moines, IA (KICD) — It’s up to Iowa’s judicial nominating commission to come up with five finalists for the Iowa Court of Appeals now. Applicants had a short time to review their qualifications Wednesday. Judge John M. Sandy from Spirit Lake discussed his philosophy.

Sandy was asked about a growing public distrust of the judicial system.

Judge Sandy said he believes Appellate Justices should maintain civility during their debates, and when asked what he hopes his legacy will be, answered “Kindness.”
Governor Kim Reynolds will make the final appointment.
