Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The State Qualifying Meets were ran on Thursday accross the State of Iowa for Track and Field.

KICD’s Ben Lundsten was at the Class 2A Spirit Lake site.

Okoboji’s Adison Frerichs had a big personal record of 12:21.07 to snag a second-place finish and a trip to the State Meet.

In the Girls 800m Run, Sioux Central’s Linnea Bloom is going back to the State Meet after clocking a 2:26.63 to place 2nd.

Drew Sandven had a close battle in the 400m Hurdles where he finished 3rd with a time of 56.56.

In the Girls team scores, Spirit Lake won with 119 points, Sioux Central was 4th with 86, Okoboji 5th with 65, Emmetsburg 8th with 45, and Pocahontas Area was 10th with 34.5.

For the Boys team scores, Spirit Lake won the team title with 145 points, Okoboji was 2nd with 100, Estherville Lincoln Central took 3rd with 85, Sheldon was 4th at 79, Emmetsburg placed 9th with 37, Sioux Central 10th with 36, and Pocahontas Area was 11th with 23.

The Spencer Track and Field teams were in Sergeant Bluff for one of the Class 3A State Qualifying Meets.

The highlight of the evening was the Miles Robbins placing 1st and Adrian Carillo placing 2nd as the Tiger Boys swept the Auto-Bids in the 100m Dash. Carillo had a massive PR to push himself in to the State Meet.

Robbins also had a personal record, running sub-11 seconds for the first time.

Weston Johnson appeared frustrated with his race in the 110m Hurdles, despite setting a personal record and qualifying for the State Meet.

In the Girls 800m run, Spencer’s Adalyn Schoelerman had to battle with some tough competition and hopes to snag an at-large bid to the State Meet.

Jack Berends stormed to a 1st place finish in the 200m Dash. He was excited about the race he put together.

Preston Pitts is back in the State Meet for the 400m Hurdles. He hopes to clean up some things before getting back in Drake Stadium.

Peyton Morey is also awaiting a possible at-large bid into the State Meet for the Spencer Girls. Morey broke down her race strategy in the 1500m run.

In the Girls team standings, MOC-Floyd Valley won with 151 points with Spencer placing 7th with 59.5. There were a lot of personal records for a young Tiger girls’ team on Thursday night. Here is coach Drew Schiltz on Spencer’s Potential.

For the Boys team standings, Bishop Heelan won with 147 points with Spencer taking 2nd at 129. Coach Wilson Hookfin is excited with the direction of the program.

At the Atlantic site for 3A, ADM won with 188 points in the Girls meet with Storm Lake placing 5th with 73. ADM also claimed the Boys Title with 209 points. Storm Lake was 8th with 21.

For the Class 2A Manson site, Forest City’s girls won with 145 points. Cherokee was 7th with 63. In the Boys meet, Forest City won with 109 points and Cherokee was 2nd with 93.

In the Class 1A Armstrong site, West Bend-Mallard won the girls meet with 129 points, followed by Alta-Aurelia in 2nd with 127, North Union in 4th with 83, Newell-Fonda was 5th with 67, South O’Brien 6th at 56, Harris-Lake Park took 7th with 36.5, MMCRU finished 8th with 31, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 10th at 22, and Sibley-Ocheyedan was 11th with 17.5. For the Boys Meet, MMCRU won with 133 points, Sibley-Ocheyedan was 2nd with 102, Alta-Aurelia 3rd at 91, South O’Brien finished 4th with 90.5, Newell-Fonda took 7th at 37, North Union 8th with 31, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn took 9th with 30, GTRA finished 10th at 27.5, Harris-Lake Park was 11th at 24, West Bend-Mallard was 12th and Storm Lake St. Mary’s placed 13th.

The State Track and Field Meet will be May 16th through 18th at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
