Sheldon, Ia (KICD) – Northwest Iowa Community College announced the appointment of Tre Thomas as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach, and Jesse Kuehler as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach.

Tre Thomas was the assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Garden City Community College in Kansas. He also has experience at Bethany College in Kansas. Thomas graduated with a degree in Sports Management from Southwestern College in Kansas. While in College, he was a 2-year captain for Southwestern and earned two-time all-conference honors. Thomas also has professional playing experience with Ozark FC in Bentonville Arkansas and the Wichita Selection indoor soccer team.

Thomas shared his enthusiasm for the new role, saying, “I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Northwest Iowa Community College institution and the Thunder Community. I am ready to hit the ground running and start singing future Thunder recruits to our program. We are going to win on the field and in the classroom! I appreciate everyone’s faith in me and am thankful for this opportunity to make this community and institution proud!

Jesse Kuehler is a graduate of Spencer High School and a former athlete for the Iowa Lakes Community College and Briar Cliff University Soccer teams. Kuehler earned a degree in Sports Management from Briar Cliff before beginning his coaching journey with West Des Moines Soccer and Sporting Iowa. Kuehler would also be a 1st assistant and Goalkeeper coach for Norwalk, helping lead the team to an Iowa Boys Class 2A State Championship. Kuehler also has coaching experience at Defiance College in Ohio as an assistant for the Women’s Soccer team. Kuehler would return to Spencer where he coached the Tiger High School team, NWISC Club, as well as a reserve coach and second assistant for the Iowa Lakes Men’s Soccer team, contributing to their National Championship in 2023.

Coach Kuehler conveyed his enthusiasm for the new position, stating, “I’m very thankful for the opportunity to lead NCC. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running and bringing in some quality guys to compete in this tough ICCAC region!

The NCC Thunder Soccer programs begin in the fall of 2024.
