Spencer, IA (KICD)– A Laurens man has pled not guilty to theft and forgery charges in Clay County.

41-year-old David Steiner entered the plea last week to one count each of second degree theft and forgery after was accused in September of writing a check valued at more than two thousand dollars to a local business on an account that did not belong to and that had been closed for several years.

If convicted, Steiner faces up to five years behind bars per charge. He will go to trial in March.
