Sioux City, IA (KICD) — A nearby police department says the number of vehicle thefts increases in cold weather. Sioux City police officer Valerie Rose says that’s because we often leave our cars running this time of year.

The Sioux City police department had four vehicle thefts on Thursday alone.

The Jackson County Minnesota sheriff’s department recovered a stolen vehicle from South Dakota this week. Employees at the Super America gas station on Interstate 90 in Jackson reported a Chevy Trailblazer had been in the parking lot for several weeks. It checked out to be one reported stolen from Sioux Falls.
