Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer Historic Preservation Commission is going way back into its history with the May Lecture Series on Thursday giving the community a chance to learn more about the Masonic Temple.
Steve Waller will be the presenter and says the history of the organization dates back to the late 1800s in Spencer.
While the building on the corner of East 4th Street and 1st Avenue East has been the site for a number of different purposes over the years, it is still used for its original purpose today.
Waller’s presentation on the history of the Masonic Temple will take place Thursday at 5:30 in Council Chambers at Spencer City Hall and will also be live streamed on the City of Spencer Facebook page.
Those wanting to see the building in person will be able to take a tour on Saturday morning as part of the Spencer Main Street Downtown Upstairs Tour starting at nine o’clock.
