Iowa (KICD) — There was very little change in the local area when it comes to drought conditions this week.

The latest update released Thursday show a small area in Dickinson and Eastern Osceola Counties as the only ones not in some sort of drought with the only other local change being along with Buena Vista-Cherokee County line where conditions improved from a D1 Moderate Drought to being Abnormally Dry due to heavy rain associated with thunderstorm activity earlier this week.

Around the rest of Iowa, there is some improvement showing since last week’s update including the areas of D3 Extreme Drought shrinking from 5.3 percent of the state to 4.7 percent. Overall, however, more than 99-percent of Iowa remains at least abnormally dry.
