Spencer, IA (KICD)– Monday was the annual appreciation of veterans at the Clay County Fair with the keynote speaker at the morning program delivering a powerful address.

Elaine Leusink (Lou-sink) is a board member of the Midwest Honor Flight, location coordinator of Sioux Center’s Wreaths Across America and is a Gold Star Mother.

She tells KICD News she has been a big supporter of the United States Arm Forces more some time, especially following an event the changed her world nearly two decades ago.

Over the years, Leusink has found herself getting involved with numerous groups assisting veterans.

While her family gave the ultimate sacrifice, Leusink says she wants all those who have or are currently serving to know that they too have sacrificed something to help make our nation free.
