Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — Last month Jerome Mauw offered to serve on the Spirit Lake school board when a member resigned. After finding out another resident had also come forward he withdrew. This month another board membered stepped down, and Mauw was the only one to come forward and was appointed by the rest of the board to fill the seat until the next election. Mauw says he’s likes to volunteer, and school – right now – is his family’s priority.
Monday night was Kerri McKim’s last board meeting after serving one full term, and part of another.
Athough the terms on the Spirit Lake school board are staggered, the two resignations means that all five seats will be on the ballot in November. Scott Trautmen relinquished his seat in April and Luke Lundt was appointed.
