Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — Another member of the Spirit Lake school board has resigned. Last month Scott Trautman reliniquished his spot citing the need for more time with his family. Last night Kerri McKimm announced she’s stepping down, saying her youngest child graduates this spring and it’s time to allow some new leadership on the board.
Luke Lundt was appointed last month to fill Trautman’s spot, and the school board signaled last night they’ll fill McKimm’s open seat the same way and encouraged anyone interested in serving to contact the Superintendent’s office.
McKimm was elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2021 for a term that expires in 2025.
Elections to fill those seats for the rest of the proscribed terms will be on the general election ballot this fall. The other three seats were already coming up for election this year which means all five seats will be up for grabs this year.
