Milford, IA (KICD) — The City of Milford received its housing study Monday night. Consultant Charlie Cowell says the number confirms the anecdotal shortage of units in ALL price ranges.

Cowell says inflation makes it difficult for contractors and landlords to building anything under 300 thousand dollars.

Cowell tells KICD News the current market would sustain 28 new units per year, but developers will need financial incentives.

Cowell says many respondents would buy larger and more expensive homes if they were on the market, which would lessen the competition for lower priced homes.

Milford Mayor Steve Anderson Monday night said he will probably appoint a housing task force within the next couple of months.
