Milford, IA (KICD) — The city of Milford is considering a major change to traffic that would take highway 71 from four lanes through town to only three. City Administrator LeAnn Reinsbach says traffic moves too fast – especially when school children are trying to cross.
D-O-T Engineer Dakin Schultz told the city council Monday night that from his viewpoint – the lane change makes sense.
Schultz tells KICD News many towns have already opted for the two lanes of traffic with a dedicated turn lane in the middle, including Arnolds Park and Okoboji to the immediate North.
Schutlz says the decision is totally up to the city. The Milford city council street committee will start assessing public opinion on the matter.
