Milford, IA (KICD) –The city of Milford has been presented a cursory economic analysis of of its airport. It was prompted by a community-group that offered to purchase the property for one million dollars to construct housing, hotels, and a youth sports complex. Mayor Steve Anderson says it’s only phase one of a larger study that needs to be performed.
Airport Commission Chair Chris Stein says the consultant says Dickinson County currently has the business to sustain at least one public airport.
Phase One does NOT address the cost of moving the airport or suggest an alternate site. Mayor Anderson says he thinks the facility needs to move whether the Spirit of Okoboji Project goes forward or not.
Anderson hopes several governmental entities in Dickinson County can move forward with a plan, despite similar efforts failing in the past.
