Spencer, IA (KICD)– A Dickens man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase early Saturday morning.

The incident began shortly after midnight on 320th Street just east of the junction of Highways 71 and 18 when a 48-year-old Michael Daniels reportedly failed to pull over for a traffic stop leading officers on a 13 mile pursuit that reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The pursuit eventually ended about seven miles east of the origin point when Daniels reportedly entered the ditch and then attempted to flee on foot being taken into custody a short time later.

Daniels has been charged with felony eluding, driving while barred, speeding, improper use of registration operating without registration, not having proof of insurance and for failing to maintain control. He was later released from custody after posting bond.
