Spencer, IA (KICD)– The two National Weather Service forecast offices serving the local area have released the schedule for the annual spotter classes.

The sessions through the Sioux Falls office will kick off on March 18th at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon followed on April 3rd at the Cherokee Fire Department and in Spencer at the Clay County Regional Events Center on April 25th all starting at 7 p.m.

NWS Des Moines will host one local session at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg starting at 6:30 on April 23rd.

Both offices will also host virtual sessions with Des Moines being on March 21st at 6:30 with Sioux Falls hosting two virtual classes: April 4th at 6:30 p.m. and on the 24th at 1 p.m.

All classes are free to take part in. Virtual classes require registration ahead of time by following go the NWS Des Moines or Sioux Falls websites. Those attending in person do not need to pre-register.
