Lincoln, ND (KICD)– A week of dry weather has led to some worsening drought conditions in parts of Iowa.

The latest USDA Drought Monitor released on this morning show no change to the local conditions with severe drought still noted in Eastern Buena Vista and Western Pocahontas Counties, abnormally dry conditions in the northern counties and moderate drought elsewhere.

The only change in the last week in Iowa is in eastern sections of the state where a spot of D3-Extreme Drought has surfaced around the Waterloo area.

In total, 99-percent of the state remains abnormally dry and 74-percent in at least a moderate drought. The true effect of this week’s heat wave will not be seen until next week’s release.
