Spencer, IA (KICD) — The new Spencer tennis courts were dedicated over the weekend, and named for Dennis Price, who started the tennis program at Spencer High school in the 1980s. The dedicated was emceed by one of Price’s former players who went on to coach – Brett Groen.

 

Price himself was on hand for the honor and spoke to KICD Sport Director Steven Cutler.

The new courts are located behind the Spencer Middle School and were a joint project between the school district and city of Spencer. Mayor Steve Bomgaars – himself a former tennis coach – suggested the name.
