Primghar, IA (KICD)– A Northwest Iowa man will spend the rest of his life prison after killing his mother earlier this year.

41-year-old Nathaniel Kassel changed his plea to guilty earlier this month, nearly six months after he was arrested in South Dakota as a person of interest in the death of 62-year-old Jody Duskin whose body was discovered in her home by another family member.

Kassel was given life in prison without the possibility of parole on Monday for one count of first degree murder. Additional charges of possessing a firearm as a felon and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent were previously dismissed by the court.
